Meet Ketan Shah and Ashish Shah

Brothers by fate, business partners by choice. What began as sibling banter blossomed into Rena, a brand now found in kitchens worldwide. From sharing classrooms to boardrooms, they've navigated their journey with passion and precision, determined to honour their father's legacy.

Armed with a vision to bring Rena products into kitchens everywhere

They partnered with a German company that blended German meticulousness with Indian craftsmanship. The result? Rena is now present in over 190 Indian cities and 26 countries worldwide.

Ketan, the globe-trotting foodie, oversees production with his expertise in factory operations, while Ashish, with his love for movies and spreadsheets, expertly manages finance and legal. Together, they make a dynamic leadership team that is raising the bar in kitchenware, bakeware, and hostware - one product at a time.

Crafting the Rena legacy.

A timeline of how Rena came to be.

1986

Laying The Foundation

Founders Ashish Shah and Ketan Shah take their first steps into the family business of manufacturing stainless steel utensils and cutlery like spoons and forks. They find their passion and are ready to make their mark.

1992

Sharpening The Vision

They identify a need to manufacture kitchen knives in India that match the quality of those available ‘abroad.’ So, what do they do? They pack their bags for Europe, armed with a list of ‘kitchen knife manufacturers’ they found in a book at the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce. And yes, this was long before the Internet, so let’s just say, we’ve been around a while!

1994

A Cutting Edge Beginning

Our very first big export order comes in! 24,000 knives are packed and shipped to the UAE and the world starts to notice what we have to offer.

2006

Forging Alliances

One German engineer and 26 days later, a semi-automatic grinding machine imported from Solingen (Germany), is installed in India. An indigenous controlled atmosphere furnace with a hardening and tempering line is developed over the next 6 months by Indian engineers. With a dash of German precision and a whole lot of Indian ingenuity, the first knives are crafted under the brand name ‘Kutz.’

2010

Expanding Horizons

Knives were just the beginning. With 50+ new kitchenware and bakeware additions, from spatulas and peelers to can openers and cake rings, Rena Germany begins to offer everything you need for a well-stocked kitchen.

2012 / 2013

Bringing It Home

Ashish and Ketan honour their original vision and, recognizing the potential in the untapped domestic market, introduce 100+ Rena Germany products in Mumbai and Delhi.

2018

100% Indian Owned

Having acquired all shares from the German company, Rena Germany becomes an entirely Indian-owned enterprise.

2019

The Amalfi Collection

Rena Germany steps out of its comfort zone of kitchenware and into the world of porcelain. With Creative Director Aashna at the helm, Rena unveils Amalfi, its first hostware collection. This marks the beginning of something truly special, setting the table for the brand’s future in more ways than one.

2021

Rebranding

Reflecting its Indian roots, production and now ownership, the brand transitions from Rena Germany to simply Rena.

2024

A Cut Above

2 million+ exports
 9 exquisite hostware collections
Presence in 195 Indian cities and
A range of 800+ kitchenware and bakeware products later, the journey continues with one simple vision – a Rena product in every Indian kitchen.
